SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

 

"The specific and primary purpose and objective of this organization is to provide educational assistance in the form of scholarships and stipends. (Bylaws, Article II)

"A Scholarship that Makes a Difference" will grant a $1,000 scholarship, renewable for up to four years, to a student who has attended high school or received a GED in Sonoma County. The second-and third place qualifiers will receive grants in an amount determined by the Foundation.

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

1.     Applicant must have attended high school or received a GED in Sonoma County.

 

2.     High school graduates must possess a grade average of at least 2.5 (C+).

 

3.     Recipient must be a full-time student enrolled in an institution of higher learning in the U.S.

 

4.     Renewable for $1,000 for three (3) years. Recipient must complete application for renewal demonstrating educational progress, satisfactory grade point average for full-time units and classes taken to qualify for renewal. Application for renewal must contain recent GPA and verification of education major. The renewal award may be reduced, based on financial information or denied based on unsatisfactory progress toward graduation.

 

5.     Members of the Board and staff are eligible except for those involved in the selection process.

 

 

APPLICATION

 

1.     All information must be forwarded in one package.

 

2.     No separate pieces other than official transcript or financial aid reports will be accepted.

 

3.     Applicant must use the Gray Foundation Application. It must be typed. Applicant must restrict all information to the application form with only the requested attachments.

 

4.     Three letters of recommendation: one personal reference (other than relative); one academic or employer reference, and one community reference.

 

5.     Official high school transcript or GED Certificate

 

6.     Copy of Student Aid Report received from Federal Student Aid Programs

 

7.     Copy of application to or letter of acceptance from college, university, or training institution.

 

 

APPLICATION AND ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN MARCH 31, 2008
